Bike wise

On the 5th of November 2013,

The police officer came back and we had our bikes ready for practise. Before practise we went to the netball courts and practised hand signals, to make sure wer were prepared for the mini road in a non traffic environment.
We had to walk around it  before we started so that we knew where to go.  Next we got in line with our bikes and went when the person in front of you was passed the first cone.  That was so we didn't bump into each other. After we had 2 laps we stopped because the officer said we had a test to do.  Some Room 13 cyclists scored 10/10 and some did not.  After that we had to go to the field and do 2 laps.  It was so hard to bike on the grass, but I tried and I just about got 2 laps done, actually 1 3/4 laps.  We had to do the same thing again and when the bell rang it was the end of our time to practise Yay.

chemstry

On the 22nd of October Room 13 and the Senior Syndicate. Room 13 did an experiment on the red cabbage Indicator and we were given a sheet with the two titles on it. The first one was the red cabbage indicator and the second one was Acid/ Alkaline indicator, the sheet was cut because it had two titles. My favourite part of the experiment was looking at whether it changed colour.  The red meant it was acidic.  When it went blue or purple it meant it was alkaline.

This is what we did today on the 23rd of October because we hadn't taken a photo of it yesterday.  Here is a picture of all of them that we tested with the indicator.

algebra

This term we will be learning about algebra. Algebra is a type of maths that includes patterns and equations i.e. this is an example of an equation, n+3=7.  Equations have an = sign in them.
It is really hard but I will keep on trying.  Also, I  made this pattern with Blake because I like the rainbow colours.  I decided to make a red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple pattern.  Can you guess what kind of pattern I have?  What will the next element be?

term 3 reflection

term 3 was fun but it is time for the holiday.
This term we had great fun doing lots of thing like speeches and cultural evening.
this term I liked how we did a cultural evening and when we did hockey too.
On the last day of this term is really cool beacause we get a rippa rugby challenge between the senior syndicate.
My extra work at school is to be a techsperx.
The thing that I didn't really like at school was cross country because I was puffing and puffing.
School is were kids go learn so be brave and don't be afrad to learn.
See you next term :)

America's cup report

Today I am going to talk about the America's cup which  is super close between Emirates and Oracle.
Firstly, The boat with 9 points/races wins the America's cup. They have to sail for legs, legs means each section of the race and who crosses the finish line first wins 1 point. The races are held in San Fancisco  on the western side of America. The skipper for the Oracle team is Jimmy Spithill and the skipper for the Emirates team is Dean Barker. There is a Cup called the Louis Vuitton cup which means who ever gets it is called the "challengers".
The America's cup is called the "defenders". New Zealand have the Louis Vuitton Cup and the American have the America's Cup. New Zealand is so close to winning. In San Fancisco there is the golden gate bridge and an island called Alcatraz.  Alcatraz  was an island that used to be a prison but now everybody calls it the island that used to be a prison. Pretty long name for an island. There are in total of 17 races. So basically the America's Cup is a  boating race  that is held every four years and this year it is held in San Fancisco.

My speech

This Term we started speeches and we had two weeks to finish our speech.
My speech topic that I chose was my culture and me.  It was about the Philippines.
My score was 84% so that was not that bad.
My heart was pumping like a drum beating in a band.
My voice was shouting like a tiger growling in the night.
I love speeches because you get to share what you really want to share.  It is all about you or something connected to you.
Hooray for me and everybody.  I got into the speech finals for the very first time of my life and my Mum and Dad will be proud of me.
I think that you can do a speech to anyone, anywhere if you just try and stay focused.

Cultural evening

 Cultural evening
The cultural evening was special time to be presenting other culture dances and more.
The middle synidicate Kapa Haka team went first and then the American Jazz girls danced, next was the Samoan dance, the Cambodian dance,  my Filipino dance, then the Pasifika dance.
My dance was the filipino lawiswis kawayan.  Avigail, Lauranze, Shamille and I did the dance together wearing our traditional dance dresses.
